My Experience DJing at Black Walnut Farm:
I’ve DJ’d multiple weddings at Black Walnut Farm, and it is one of my favorite venues to work at.
I. Love. Black. Walnut. Farm!!!
Owners, Sarah Tracey and Jim Glaub, are simply the best. Their passion for profoundly unique and gorgeous wedding experiences at the farm is rivaled only by their kind demeanor, inexhaustible professionalism, and honest intention to give their clients the best possible experience. I’m honored to have been a part of their debut season, and remain honored to continue DJing there year after year.
I’m proud to be a preferred DJ vendor at Black Walnut Farm.
From a DJ perspective, this venue offers a lot of creative freedom, but it also requires experience. Events can flow through multiple areas of the property, and the timing and transitions need to be handled carefully to keep everything feeling natural and connected.
This is not a plug-and-play venue. It rewards experience, and that is where I come in.
Why Couples Love this Venue:
Black Walnut Farm stands out because of how customizable it is. There are multiple ceremony locations, cocktail setups, and reception options that allow couples to shape the entire experience around their vision.
You might start with welcome drinks in the gardens, move into a forest ceremony, transition into cocktails on the lawn, and finish with dinner in the barn or under a tent.
The property gives couples the freedom to be creative while still offering structure and support from an experienced team.
The entire venue is yours for the weekend, which creates a relaxed and immersive experience that feels very different from traditional one-day events.
With the right DJ guiding the flow and energy, all of these moving parts come together into one seamless and unforgettable celebration.
What the Dance Floor Is Like at Black Walnut Farm:
At Black Walnut Farm, the dance floor typically becomes the focal point once dinner wraps up and the formalities are complete. It doesn’t take long before guests are living in the moment and going for it!
I love this “worm” picture by wedding photographer Julia Ann! What a great memory.
The barn is so cool — decorated beautifully, it’s rustic charm is warm and inviting. The gigantic disco ball above glimmers, my professional sound system and powerful subwoofers send the room vibrating (tastefully, it’s never uncomfortably loud!), and the upper level is so chic; leather couches, Tiffany lamps, vinyl records, cool artwork and antique books, a photo booth inside a classic phone booth… it’s just so fun and perfect!
And musically, whether it’s high-energy moments, throwbacks, or blending genres seamlessly, the goal is always the same: keep people engaged and excited to stay out on the floor. I watch the dance floor like a hawk, and I respond.
Every wedding here has its own personality, and I approach each one differently. I shape the music and flow around the couple, their heritage & preferences, and their guests so the night feels effortless and completely their own.
It is the kind of space where guests do not just hear the music. They feel it, and they stay on the dance floor because of it.
